A Fragile Primary Production Source Of CO2

The team at Tendring pacific don’t know when the next carbon dioxide shortage will happen either, but we believe that it will surely happen at some point, because of the fragility of the primary UK production source.

Despite alternative CO2 production facilities coming on stream, CG Fertilisers UK (CFF), will remain the dominant primary source of CO2 in the UK. Any interruption in supply from CFF (as has happened previously), will significantly affect supply and, therefore, price.

With the prospect of future carbon dioxide price spikes, it is absolutely vital for every food packing plant, to run an in depth assessment of their MAP gas lines and to start accurately controlling and reducing CO2 consumption.

Efficient and Effective Solutions from Dansensor
Our immediate solution is the Dansensor MAP Provectus gas mixer and flow control unit and the Dansensor MAP Check 3 in-line headspace gas analyser with its GasSave function, which are able to:

Trim the CO2 % in the mix – with the MAP Mix Provectus
The MAP Mix Provectus trims the CO2 percentage in the mix, whilst still ensuring the gas mix is within the tolerances required for the stated shelf life. This is only possible with the MAP Mix Provectus, because of it’s reliable technology that can operate with a +/- 2% tolerance on the mix.

The MAP Mix Provectus can be readily retro-fitted onto existing plant pipework, for central mixing, or directly onto flow wrappers, vertical fill form and seal machines, thermoformers, tray sealers, pouch machines.

Reduce CO2 consumption – with the MAP Check 3
By monitoring the gas in the pack, the MAP Check 3, dynamically regulates the flow of flushing gas in real time, with typical gas savings of 40%.

The MAP Check 3 series can be readily retro-fitted onto the majority of flow wrappers, vertical fill form and seal machines, thermoformers, tray sealers and pouch machines.
